Leagues Cup 2024 Announces Tournament Format and Groups

100 Days Until the Second Edition of MLS vs LIGA MX Competition

The Leagues Cup 2024 tournament format and groups have been unveiled, featuring a new knockout round and expanded participation from both Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX.

The tournament will now begin with a knockout round featuring the eight lowest-ranked teams from each league. The winners of those matches will advance to the group stage, which will feature eight groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds.

The knockout rounds will consist of two-legged quarterfinals, semifinals, and a one-legged final. The final will be played on August 14, 2024, at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The Leagues Cup is an annual soccer competition between clubs from MLS and Liga MX. The first edition of the tournament was held in 2023, with Seattle Sounders FC defeating Santos Laguna in the final.
